How to stay cool when the temperature hits 35C+

There is quite possibly nothing worse than having scorching temperatures hit when you are totally not prepared. You may find the whole thing unbearable and you may also feel as though nothing you do can cool you down. Luckily, there are things that you can do to try and keep the heat at bay and there are also things that you can do to cool your whole family down as well.

Essential Oils

The best thing that you can do is use essential oils. If you want to make up a cooling spritz then simply take 10 drops of peppermint oil and then add 100ml of distilled water. When you have done this, all you must do is shake it up and then add it to a spray bottle. The best thing about this is that you can easily use it as many times as you want and you can never have too much. This is great if you are going away with your family and it is also great if you want to have something that you can take with you when you walk the dog as well. If you want another way to use this oil then why not get a wet towel and then add a couple of drops of peppermint oil? This will keep your forehead nice and cool and you can even put it in the freezer if you want, which leads us on to our next point!

Frozen Towels

Have you ever been so hot that you can’t stand to sit down anywhere? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Simply take a towel, and run it under a very cold tap. When you have done this, simply put it in the freezer. It won’t take long for it to get nice and icy, and you can lay this over your body to cool down instantly. This will defrost very quickly when you take it out of the freezer, so it helps to have another one in there when you have used the first one up.
Cold Water Bottle

Cold Water Bottle

If you want something that you can take into bed with you then a cold water bottle is a great option. They can keep you cool all the way through the night and you can re-fill them as many times as you want as well. When you do have a cold water bottle, you can even add some ice and then seal it up. The best thing about this is that it is all water-tight and that it is very easy to do. You can even give some to the kids as well and this will also help to keep them nice and cool.
Summer pets

Your Pets

Peppermint oil is not safe for pets, so if you want to keep them cool then it may help to give them plenty of drinking water. When you have given your pet the water, you may want to add a couple of ice cubes as well. This will help them to stay cool and it will also help them to really try and beat the heat. Remember that pets suffer as well in hot weather, so put your hand on the pavement before you let them out. If it is too hot for your hand, then it is way too hot for your pet so do keep this in mind.
