If you wonder how to apply castor oil to eyelashes? You have come to the right place.

Yes, Castor oil is by far the best natural oil for eyelashes, however you might not know how to use it properly. That is what we will show you.

Let’s recap first the benefits of castor oil for eyelashes or eyebrows, then what does castor oil do for eyelashes, why is it beneficial and How to apply castor oil to eyelashes.

Feel free to check our DIY recipes with castor oil HERE to combine the power of several ingredients and get the best results 🙂

The Benefits of Castor Oil for Eyelashes and hair.

Castor oil is a natural product that has many benefits. It is extracted from the seeds of the castor plant, which is native to Africa and India. The oil has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a variety of ailments.

Today, it is still touted as a cure-all, and its purported health benefits include everything from easing joint pain and digestive problems to promoting hair growth and providing skincare benefits.

But let’s focus on eyelashes and find out the benefits of castor oil for eyelashes, hair, nails and skin.

Boost Eyelash And Eyebrow Growth

If you’re looking for a natural way to boost eyelash and eyebrow growth, castor oil may be the answer.

This versatile oil has been used for centuries to promote hair growth, and recent studies have shown that it can indeed help to lengthen and thickness lashes. ( My favorite Brand is HERE)

Here’s how to use it: Simply apply a small amount of castor oil to a clean brush or cotton swab and gently apply it to the lashes and brows. For best results, do this at night before bed and wash it off in the morning.

You should see longer, thicker lashes in as little as four weeks! Castor oil is clearly good for eyelashes.

A Moisturiser for Rough Skin

Castor oil is often used as a natural remedy for dry skin and acne. When applied to the skin, it helps to lock in moisture and soften rough, dry patches.

It can also be used as a spot treatment for acne, as it helps to reduce inflammation and redness.

For best results, add one or two drops of castor oil to your day cream or night cream and apply the blend on clean skin and massage it in until it is fully absorbed.

You can use it daily or add the drops to your regular skincare routine a few times per week.

And if you’re worried about the greasy texture of castor oil, don’t be – it will quickly soak into your skin, leaving behind soft, smooth, and healthy-looking skin.

Cuticle Conditioning

Castor oil is also often used as a conditioner for nail cuticles.

The oil helps to moisturize the cuticles and prevents them from becoming dry and brittle. In addition, castor oil can help to reduce the appearance of hangnails.

To use castor oil on your nail cuticles, simply massage a small amount of the oil into the area around your nails. (don’t add too much or it will be a bit sticky).

You can do this every day or a few times per week, depending on your needs. For best results, be sure to use a quality castor oil that has not been refined or processed.

Tame Your Hairline

If you’re like most people, you’ve tried just about everything to tame those pesky flyaway hairs on your hairline.

You’ve used every product under the sun, from gels to pomades to serums. But no matter what you do, those flyaways always seem to find a way to make an appearance.

Well, we’re here to tell you that there is hope!

Castor oil is a holy grail product for taming flyaways, and it’s something that you probably already have in your medicine cabinet.

Just take a small amount of castor oil and rub it into your hairline. You can also use a cotton swab to apply it directly to problem areas.

The castor oil will help to smooth down your hair and keep flyways in place. This is one hack that you won’t want to live without!

What does castor oil do for eyelashes

If you want to go the natural route for your eyelashes, Castor oil is hands down the best oil for eyelashes. It helps nourish, condition, and promote eyelash growth.

At myawesomebeauty.com we love it.

It is a must have if you want to get longer and thicker eyelashes.

Why castor oil is good for eyelashes.

In other words, How Does Castor Oil Benefit Hair Growth? In fact, Castor oil is rich in active substances and nutrients that can protect your eyelashes and promote hair or eyelash growth.

The undecylenic acid and ricinine are biochemical agents that are said to be effective at inhibiting fungal growth.

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that can protect and condition your eyelashes, which means it prevents them from breakage and from falling out.

Ricinoleic acid is an omega-9 essential fatty acid that has very interesting properties: it can thicken your eyelashes and can boost eyelash growth this ricinoleic acid is really the key ingredient that makes castor oil so beneficial for eyelashes and eyebrows.

What Science Has To Say about castor oil for eyelashes

If you’ve ever been on the internet, you’ve probably seen at least one article proclaiming the benefits of using castor oil for hair growth. Whether it’s for your lashes, eyebrows, or head hair, there’s no shortage of people who swear by its efficacy.

But what does science have to say about using castor oil to promote hair growth?

Unfortunately, not much. There is very little scientific research on the subject, and what little there is has mostly been conducted on mice.

However, some small studies have been conducted on humans, and they suggest that castor oil may indeed help to encourage hair growth and fight hair loss.

This is likely because of ricinoleic acid – a type of fatty acid which has been shown to promote the growth of hair follicles.

In fact, studies have shown that ricinoleic acid can help to increase the length of eyelashes by up to 50%.

With a concentration of 90-95%, castor oil is one of the most concentrated sources of ricinoleic acid available.

This acid has several benefits, including being anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. It is also an effective lubricant and can be used in a variety of industrial applications.

Ricinoleic acid is also found in smaller quantities in other oils, such as olive oil and peanut oil. However, these oils contain a much lower concentration of the acid, making them less effective for industrial use.

One study found that participants who used castor oil had significantly thicker eyelashes after eight weeks than those who didn’t use the oil.

So while there’s still no definitive answer as to whether or not castor oil can help you grow thicker and longer lashes as everyone’s results are different, it is worth a try if you have never tried it.

Just remember to do a patch test first to make sure you’re not allergic!

Castor Oil For Eyelashes – Is It Safe?

Castor oil is a natural oil that has been used for centuries without any issue to get longer and thicker eyelashes.

It is perfectly safe unless you are allergic to it, which is very rare.

The other potential issue is if you apply too much oil, it might get into your eye and lead to some blurry vision or some irritation for people with sensitive eyes.

You can avoid this problem if you apply castor oil in small amounts (easier to add gradually instead of removing oil ) and making sure to apply it only to your eyelashes.

Side effects of castor oil on eyelashes

Castor oil has been used by many generations of men and women to stimulate their eyelash growth.

No severe side effects have been reported up to now.

Of course, if you apply too much castor oil on your eyelashes, it can lead to some blurry vision if it touches your eyes.  It can also lead to some irritation for people with sensitive skin or eyes.

To avoid these issues, apply the oil with care and don’t use too much oil to avoid getting some drops of oil into your eye.

How to apply castor oil to eyelashes

We’re always looking for new ways to improve the appearance of our eyelashes.

We’ve tried all sorts of products, but we have to say that castor oil is our new favorite.

Castor oil is extremely versatile and is useful for a variety of different things, including eyelashes. It makes them look so healthy and full! If you’re looking for a way to make your lashes look their best, then you should definitely try using castor oil.

Keep in mind that castor oil is a bit thick so you might feel clumsy at first. I used to use way too much oil so use small amounts to start with. Build up from there if you need to add more. As I said earlier, it is easier to add more oil than to remove any excess.

Just follow these simple steps:

Recently we have posted our 5 easy recipes using castor oil to make your own eyelash serum. They are really easy to make and really effective ( if you are consistent). Check our article with the recipes HERE.

Castor oil before and after

Here are the results of using castor oil for 4 months ( every day) of our reviewer. ( please note that she also took biotin as a supplement, this one HERE on amazon)

Best castor oil for eyelashes?

There are many brands of castor oil out there.

We tried several brands. Some very cheap and other very expensive.

In fact, very cheap brands are most of the time quite disappointing as the quality is clearly not acceptable while the most expensive are not always worth the price.

I personally like one brand that is both cost effective and good quality. You clearly don’t need to spend more money to get good quality castor oil. It really gave us great results used alone or used with other oils/ essential oils. My favorite brand is HERE on amazon.

When Can You Expect Results with castor oil?

Although results may vary, most people who use castor oil on their eyelashes report longer and thicker lashes within 6 weeks.

So if you’re looking for longer eyelashes, it’s definitely worth giving castor oil a try.

Just be patient – those lashes aren’t going to grow overnight!

What is the Best Time to Apply Castor Oil on Eyelashes

The best moment to apply castor oil is, in my opinion, at night and more specifically 30mn before bedtime.

Why?

This duration will enable your eyelashes roots to fully absorb the oil.

If you apply it right before hitting the sack, you might move in your bed and rub your eyes against the pillow and remove the oil. you could also use it in the morning but I like wearing make-up, so it quickly become a big mess with my mascara.

So, I prefer to use it at night, and I think I am not the only one ahah.

Note: you may need to remove castor oil from your eyelashes the next morning. (Especially if you applied too much) you can use a make-up remover or just plain water. But make sure to “be gentle” and avoid pulling or rubbing your eyelashes.

Can you use it with your Eyelash Extensions?

If you have eyelash extensions and are considering using castor oil to nourish and simulate your eyelashes, you won’t be able to use castor oil.

The reason is simple, castor oil will interact with the glue that has been used with your extensions.

At best, the extensions will simply fall out, at worst the reaction will lead to irritation and inflammation. So don’t use castor oil with lash extension.

Bonus Tip: Castor Oil Is Not Just For Eyelashes!

A lot of people don’t realize that castor oil isn’t just for growing eyelashes.

It’s actually a versatile product that can be used on a variety of different hair types. For example, castor oil works just as well on eyebrows as it does on eyelashes.

Similarly, if you have fine or thinning hair, castor oil can help to thicken it and make it look fuller. Many people use castor oil to help with dandruff and scalp itchiness.

And if you’re looking for an all-natural way to moisturize your hair, castor oil is a great option. Just add a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner, and you’ll notice a difference in the way your hair looks and feels.

Final words of caution about Applying Castor Oil to Your Eyelashes

Keep in mind that – while castor oil can help to nourish and strengthen your eyelashes, making them less likely to break or fall out – it probably won’t make lashes dramatically longer.

It will help make them longer but don’t expect dramatic results.

We got better results with eyelash growth serums (check our complete reviews of eyelash growth serums HERE).

Castor oil does have the added benefits of helping to protect lashes from the damaging effects of environmental pollutants and makeup, though.

While castor oil can be beneficial for lashes, it’s important to avoid getting it in your eyes. This is because castor oil is thick and sticky, and it can cause irritation if it gets into your eyes. If you do get castor oil in your eyes, be sure to rinse them out immediately with warm water.

Some people may be allergic to castor oil.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include redness, swelling, and itching. If you experience any of these symptoms after using castor oil, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Fortunately, allergies to castor oil are relatively rare.

When used properly, castor oil can be a helpful way to improve the health of your lashes. Just be sure to exercise caution when applying it near your eyes!
