It grows naturally in the south of Madagascar and its height can reach 28m. It has alternate leaves of about 15cm, its bark of a pale gray color, tending to yellow, is rough on the surface. A tree endemic to Madagascar, it grows on all types of soil. It can be propagated by cuttings from the stems or by seeds.
