Origin and history

The lemongrass belongs to the Poaceae family. It is a tropical perennial herb measuring around 1.50 m tall. Its root system is very dense, its pale green or bluish leaves are particularly rough and sharp. It is because of its high citral content that lemongrass has such a characteristic lemony scent. It is sometimes found under other names: Indian lemon grass, Indian verbena, exotic verbena, Indian lemon grass.

Certain natural compounds contained in this essential oil may present an allergy risk in some people. To measure your tolerance, always do an application test in the crease of the elbow before using it in your mixes.

What is Lemongrass Oil Good For?

Suggested Use:

Add a few drops in your diffuser or a bowl of hot water. For all other uses,
mix a few drops with a carrier oil (like olive, jojoba, almond, coconut oil) or with shampoo, hand soap, etc. Please consult a qualified aromatherapist or essential oil book  for dilution ratios.

Pure essential oils are potent! Use with care.

Not for internal or topical use at this strength. Never use undiluted. Keep out of reach of children. May irritate skin. Dilute properly. If pregnant, nursing, suering from any medical condition or taking medication, consult a health care practitioner before use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Store in a cool, dark place. Keep away from naked flame.

Do not use on hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin and children under 2 years of age.

Indications

Stimulating the immune system, the essential oil of organic lemongrass is recommended in colds as well as preventive and curative.

Indian verbena is a very good anti-cellulite and anti-stretch mark to combine with Cedar, Lemon and Cypress for an effective slimming treatment. It is also a very good calming agent for the nervous system.

Modes of use

Consult a physician before any therapeutic use or oral treatment.

Oral route:

2 drops of organic lemongrass essential oil, 2 times a day with a little honey, syrup or on a pastille, to improve digestion.

On the skin :

30 drops of organic lemongrass essential oil + 20 ml of organic sesame vegetable oil, for "saddlebags" in tonic local massage.

In diffusion:

In atmospheric diffusion, the essential oil of lemongrass is effective in the event of influenza, in times of infectious diseases. It is also a very good repellent against mosquitoes and other insects.
